Senior Pastor Jonathan Eden
I welcome you all to worship God, in the Tamil meetings in East London.
Specially if you have children. If you want them to grow up to be healthy,
happy, hard-working, and holy, bring them to Sunday School at any of our
services. It is most important to keep them close to God in early adolescence,
and we can help young people and their parents at this time of their lives.
Here’s
an interview with someone whose first contact with Christ was our Sunday school:
Hello,
Sister Pandiletchumi
!
Hello,
Brother Jonathan
How old
were you when you left India?
I was
fifteen.
In India,
did you go to Sunday school?
No, I was
going to temples.
Your father
told you to come to Sunday school. What did you think of it?
At that time, I didn’t know anything about Christianity. I
was just beginning to learn English. Sunday school was totally different, but
Mary, another girl there, was explaining to me in Tamil.
For eight years I struggled: should I choose Jesus, or
Murugan? Slowly, as I heard the message, one thing touched me; even people who
didn’t know me, would pray for me.
What does
Jesus mean to you now?
He is more than anything. “Taste and see that the Lord is
good.” In Hinduism, we go to the temple, we pray, we leave, we feel empty. But
I feel that Jesus is with me.
Now you are
married, and you have a son of fourteen and a daughter of thirteen. Do they go
to Sunday school?
Yes, they
have been coming since they were born.
And you
yourself are one of the teachers!
